Peace through Sport
The UN Council on Sport for Development and Peace, as well as the UN WTO (World Tourism Organization) ST-EP Foundation (Sustainable Tourism for Elimination of Poverty), are forming a strong bond with the WOA and Olympians.
- The UN ST-EP Foundation is opening “Thank You Small Libraries” in 31 OlympAfrica Sport Youth Training Centers located throughout Africa.
- The WOA, in conjunction with the UN WTO-ST-EP foundation, will help to place Olympians at work in these libraries.
- In Beijing, President Fosbury met with Wilfried Lemke, Special Advisor to the UN Secretary-General on Sport for Peace and Development.
- In Monaco, President Fosbury established a relationship with the UN WTO ST-EP Foundation through Ambassador Dho of Korea.
Many opportunities for participation, such as Forums, the opening of more libraries, and involvement of Olympians with other UN global programs will result as this relationship grows.
