"A Chosen Life"
“A Chosen Life”
Written by: Tony Moore
No more the city lights that turn dark nights to day.
No tragic train wreck lives that make me turn away.
I seek the tranquil peace and solitude I love:
A vast expanse of ocean blue and sky above.
The tweet and shrill of native birds, their songs I hear.
Majestic, ancient trees forever I hold dear.
With rambling river beds and rapid rushing streams,
While rainbow prisms ooze like treacle through my dreams.
Far from the madding crowd, I do not hear their cries -
Those treacherous tongues that craft and weave such vulgar lies.
The voice of reason resonates within my brain,
It comforts me, replenishes and makes me sane.
No circumstance could I conceive or ever doubt
The way I choose to live is what life’s all about.
Surrounded by the people, places, things I love,
A blessed, unconditional gift from God above.
